The Loneliness Of Curley’s Wife In Of Mice And Men By John Steinbeck

Of Mice and Men, a classic novel set in the 1930s, is one of my favorites. George and Lennie, both migrant farmer immigrants, are the main characters. They are forced to work on a California farm to try and make enough money to pay for their dreams of owning land. The farm is full of interesting characters that the couple meet. Lennie’s recklessness, even though he has the best intentions, often leads to trouble for the two. This novel depicts many characters who experienced loneliness. One character has experienced this terrible feeling more than others. This essay will discuss the loneliness felt by that particular character. Curley’s wife, Curley, is the subject of John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men. She has experienced emotional abuse from Curley and has also been isolated and mistreated by other farm workers. John Steinbeck’s “Most Challenged and Banned Books” list also includes Of Mice and Men. You can find it here. Curley’s Wife is the singlest character in the novel. This is because Curley abuses her emotionally. When Lennie meets Curley’s Wife in the barn, Lennie refuses her conversation. Lennie then says that Curley has made it clear that he doesn’t want her to speak to anyone else than him and that she is lonely. This is evident in the text evidence, which states that she gets lonely. ‘You could talk to people, but it’s impossible for me to talk to Curley. Otherwise, he becomes mad. How would it feel to not speak to anyone This is Curley’s wife being kept isolated from all other farm workers. This means that Curley keeps his wife from talking to others, which is clearly emotional abuse. Curley is keeping Curley’s Wife emotionally locked up by denying her access to social interaction. Curley keeps his wife in an emotional bind by keeping her isolated from social interaction. George and Lennie first encounter Curley’s wife. George makes a poor assessment of Curley’s Wife. Lennie warns Lennie against talking to her. Whitey, a farmworker, says Curley’s wife is not loyal and likes to date guys in another portion of the novel. “Listen to Me, Crazy Bastard,” he cried. “Don’t even look at that little thing. It doesn’t matter what she says or does. I’ve seen ’em all before, but she is the worst piece of prison bait I have ever seen. She should be left alone. They call Curley a sexy woman and say she can’t resist boys. She is not able to communicate with many people and has no companion. She is also the only female farm worker. In 1930s America, women were treated worse than white men. This essay shows that Curley’s Wife, Curley, experiences the most loneliness. She has experienced emotional abuse from Curley and has also been isolated from other farm workers. Curley’s wife is the most lonely for many reasons. Her husband is a cruel and abusive husband. She is subject to emotional abuse from her husband, as shown in paragraph 2. The farm workers call her a bitch, and she is also called a sexy little girl. She is treated poorly by the farm workers, which must have made her feel lonely.
